And then there's that scene with Tom Hagen and Vito, where they're discussin' business. "You're the brains of this operation, Vito," Tom says, and Vito just grunts, "Nah, just the muscle." I can just hear the humor in Vito's vo, like he's sayin', "Se, I'm the muscle, but I'm also the one who makes se the muscles stay in line."
I mean, I've read this book so many times, but every time I come across these ts of dialogue, I just can't help but laugh. It's like these guys are real-life characters, and they're just chasin' the ol' dream, you know? They're dealin' with family, with power, with all the stuff that comes with bein' a mob boss, but they're still human, still got a sense of humor.
Now, let me l you a little story. I remember when I first got my hands on the English version of "The Godfather" txt. I was a kid, and I was at my buddy's house, and he had this old flip phone. We were messin' around, and he handed me the txt file. "Check this out," he said. I was like, "What's this?" And there I was, reading Vito's words on this tiny screen, and I was just amazed. It was like hing a little piece of the mob in my pocket.
